18-year-old bicyclist killed in Loop crash, Chicago police say
Police said an 18-year-old man was riding a Divvy bike when the crash happened.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A bicyclist was killed in a crash involving an SUV in the Loop Monday morning, Chicago police said.

The crash occurred at about 4:53 a.m. in the 100-block of North Michigan Avenue.

Police said an 18-year-old man was riding a Divvy bike when the crash happened.

The rider struck the front of a GMC Hummer SUV traveling southbound through a green light on Michigan Avenue.

The bicyclist was transported in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Sources told ABC7 the victim was accompanied by two other people on bikes at the time of the crash.

The driver of the SUV was issued a citation and no other injuries were reported, police said.

Police said the driver had the right of way.
